ARC Rock N Soul by Lauren Sattersby

4.5/5

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC <3

So I'd really been looking forward to this book for a while now the blurb just sounded so awesome! :D Didn't disappoint.

Rock N Soul is about a normal guy named Tyler who's working at a hotel where just a couple of months ago a famous rock star od'd he was the one who found the body and now he's walking in to the room for the first time since. But then he finds a ring, the ring, Chris Raiden's ring which he puts on and now he has a narcissistic ghost pestering him.

Chris Raiden didn't live the healthiest of lives what with his heavy drug abuse and pushing away his friends and family he regrets it enough to come back and haunt the poor bellboy and get him to help in making amends.

What starts with as an understandably difficult relationship soon turns into friendship as Tyler can't resist Chris's ghostly charms.

I really did have fun reading this book, Chris is a riot he's what appears to be a spoiled rock star with a dirty drug habit and dirtier sex life but really he's a guy who's in great(not physical)pain and the only way to escape is the hard drugs which end in his death. Then there's Tyler who doesn't really think much of himself, he kept a crazy girlfriend for way longer than he should have just because she occasionally put out even though she was always envisioning someone else and he's stayed at his job for ever because he's never quite found the motivation to go back to college. The two bring out the best in each other with Chris opening up about his life and learning how his coping mechanisms aren't quite the best and Tyler growing up and accepting himself.

I love a good ghost love story and I'm always curious in how the relationship between a ghost and living person will work. The ending of this one still left me with some questions but oh well, live in the present and all that I guess.

Widdershins by Jordan L Hawk

4/5
Historicals aren't usually my thing which is why even with so much of my friends loving this I'd been rather resistant to starting it and it wasn't 'till a bingo challenge on Goodreads finally pushed me into reading it.

And oh am I glad I did. This book was wildly entertaining full of magic and creepy undead monsters fun fun! Not to mention a sexy detective wooing a cute historian who speaks 13 languages and reads more. Throw in an awesome chick who knows how to wield a gun as good as any man and this book is pure magic!

ARC Review: The Glass Prince by Sandra Bard

3/5
Daniel is a lonely mage with powers over glass he has had no real human contact since he was a kid for whenever he touches someone that person is unintentionally treated to glass embedded skin. So naturally when he meets someone who's unaffected by his magic he's curious but then curiosity turns to obsession where-then he ends up unintentionally intentionally kidnapping Eren who apart from being immune to magic is a rather ordinary guy with a girlfriend and and wheelchair bound mother he takes care of.

I found the world this is placed in fascinating but the development of the love between the two MCs just didn't quite cut it for me it was kinda, well, Stockholm syndromeish and the ending was rather abrupt though it had potential to be really something I only give it three stars. Still I enjoyed it well enough and found the whole magic thing interesting I should read more Paranormal.

Being True by Jacob Z. Flores

5/5
Being True is about a kid, Tru, who's an outsider never fitting in and believing all the horrible things people say about him. Thinking himself ugly and not worth anything he is more surprised than anyone when the most popular kid in school takes a liking to him. Javi is the star Baseball player and most loved kid in the school even the teachers love him and even though he's happy he's not happy and it isn't until he meets Tru that he starts to figure out what it is he needed.

There's so much I loved about this book first of all the best gal pal shares my name and I just love that :D also Javi is Mexican and I just love to see some diversity in books and hey being that I myself am Mexican bonus! I also grew up in a poor "barrio" like the one Tru and Javi live in so yea I loved seeing all the Mexican culture thrown in.

I just love to read a nice feel good YA book here and there and this is one I really really liked.

ARC: The Working Elf Blues by Piper Vaughn

4/5

This is a really cute little Christmas story about an elf who's watched over and loved a man from afar for fifteen years until he couldn't resist anymore and decided to hell with the north pole it was time to follow his heart to the lonely man with the dogs. Not too much angst and a happy ending just how I like 'em.

I just love all the feel good stories that come out during the holiday season :D

Imaginary by Jamie Sullivan

5/5
First of all that cover is freakin' adorable :)
Imaginary is a cute lil book about two lonely boys finding each other. Aaron is an unloved little foster kid with no friends and then one day he meets James an even lonelier little five year old, lonelier because Aaron is the only one who can see him despite this they become the best of friends. Because he fears other people's reactions he hides the fact that he still talks to his 'imaginary' friend, James even as he grows up. Though he makes 'real' friends James is always Aaron's best friend through new discoveries and new feelings. It's kinda sad to see two little boys so sad Aaron not being loved by his foster parents and poor James having only one person that sees him and that person not believing he actually exists at least James knows he's real. This book reminded me of The Ghost on My Couch another favorite of mine in how it ended. A cute book that I would definitely recommend.

ARC Review: Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer

5/5
Wow! What a read I feakin' blazed through this I love this series seriously awesome!

Is this the last book? I think so *sigh*. This is Michael's book at last the first short was about Michael and honestly I've been impatiently waiting for more of him ever since. I love Michael he's amazing taking care of his brothers all by himself ever since losing his parents years ago. Things sure aren't easy for him there are guides gunning for him and his family and he tries so hard to keep his brothers safe, taking the brunt of everything on his shoulders. When their home comes under attack they're forced to leave and Michael is forced to separate from them. Now on his own he has to figure out what to do next well next after killing this guide who keeps trying to blow him up at every turn. At least he has Hanna

Hanna now Hanna I like, she's a strong woman a freakin' firefighter for goodness sakes! She's working with a hard situation after getting pregnant at seventeen she now has a five year old son to take care of. She's tired of the men around her trying to control her and she's worried about Michael and why won't he tell her what's going on?

No lies. There will be tears and maybe some throwing of Kindles this book is intense beginning to end amazing yes but heart-wrenching and nerve-wracking. Still worth it.

Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

4/5
I was surprised when Maggie said she was gonna do this after she had been so adamantly against continuing the Wolves of Mercy Falls books. I'm crazy happy she did though, I love those books! I love Maggie's writing style she just makes you feel with her words it's beautiful really, only thing that makes them better is listening to them in audio, now that, I love which is why I went out and got this in audio! The narrators did a great job with Cole and Isabelle.

In this lovely companion novel to the Shiver books Cole has returned to Cali to search out Isabelle, ostensibly he's there to be in a TV show hosted by Baby North who's well known for destroying anyone who's ever on her show and with his drugged past he's perfect crash material for her show but Cole's worked hard to get away from his past and he's not about to go back no matter how insistently that past keeps knocking.
Isabelle has problems believing people can stay with how she lost her brother and now her parents marriage on the bend she's falling apart and just can't seem to grasp why Cole would possibly want her. Hiding everything behind her ice queen mask even she wonders if she's capable of feeling. Only Cole seems to understand her if only she'd stop pushing him away.

For a werewolf book there really is way too little shifting going on just Cole trying to escape his life for a few minutes mostly. Would have been nice to see him go wolf and savage the city, yea that would have been nice. Though Cole and Isabelle are cool I still prefer Sam and Grace from the original trilogy there just seems to be more love there or maybe it's just that they're better at expressing their feelings. I wonder If maybe Maggie is open to writing another one of Sam and Grace? *hint hint*

ARC Review: Swan Prince by Erin Lark

3/5
I'm not usually one to read shifter books but this one was pretty cool. Swan Prince is about Oliver, a swan shifter who's shot down one night by a hunter and ends up stuck in his human form. One day Bastian finds an injured naked man in one of his horse stalls naturally he's confused as to how he arrived there in the middle of a blizzard, but he takes him in anyway patches up his wound and offers him a job. Oliver stays with Bastian for a while and helps him out with the horses while his shoulder heals but once it does what will he do leave the man he's falling in love with and go back to his responsibilities as prince to his flock or stay? An interesting read what with all the werewolf books out there these days I found this to be a refreshing change.

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

5 Estrellas! JEEEEM!!! Jem Jem Jem Jem was in this he was he was! :D I love Jem. Okay. City of Heavenly Fire is the last book of The Mortal Instruments. Sebastian is creating an army of Zombie like evil shadowhunters and trying to take over the world or whatever. Clary and friends set off into a demon realm to find and defeat Sebastian before his evil shadowhunter zombies kill off everyone in the city. In this book we get a deeper view at what happened before and after the epilogue of Clockwork princess and a look at the new characters that will be staring in the next shadowhunter series, they seem awesome and i'm already excited. COHF was amazing and it ended nicely this whole series is awesome i love Cassandra Clare's writing and can't wait for the next Series.

The Darkest Craving by Gena Showalter

4 Stars. Kane is the keeper of disaster and he hates it, hates his demon and the messes it makes. Josephina is the bastard daughter of the fae king and is treated as a blood slave and servent she gets sent to hell after being punished for something her sister, the keeper of irresponsibility, does and there she ends up finding and saving Kane from his torture in return she asks that he kills her to which he refuses. She runs off and he chases. They both end up in the fairy relm where Kane ends up engaged to the wrong woman and an evil Phoenix keeps trying to kill Josephina. Another LOTU book that I love. Okay I love all the lords especially Torin in fact I'm now part of Touch me Torin!

Secret by Brigid Kemmerer

5 Crazy Stars!!! I'd been dying to read this ever since Breathless, seriously the wait was agonizing. Secret is both Nick and Quinn's story Nick is falling apart. He's working hard helping his brother keep their business afloat and fears leaving for college and leaving his brothers too much to open the possible college acceptance letters he's received not to mention Adam. Adam is Quinn's dance partner and his boyfriend, a boyfriend who's existence is unknown to his family as is the fact that he even likes guys. Then there's the new Guide come to town with Merrick blood on his mind. Quinn has a horrid homelife her mother is a drunk that couldn't care less about her and her brother Jack who's supposed to be home from college is actually running a drug den from her room and likes to beat on her for no reason. She starts hanging with Tyler, an elemental that hates the Merricks but is really nice to her. Dancing with Adam is one of the better parts of her life right now. Secret is every bit as awesome as i'd hoped it would be it's a wonderful story about not being afraid to be who you are.

Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer

5 Stars! I liked this more than I had thought I would being that I previously held Ill feelings towards Hunter but no worries such issues have been resolved. This book is about Hunter. Hunter Garrity is the son of a Guide he is also a fifth meaning he has some control over all the elements and he also has the strongest connection to those around him. Things have been rough with Hunter's family lately and when his grandfather kicks him out Michael, being the awesome guy that he is takes him in. Hunter meets a new girl and it's instant attraction but what he doesn't realize is that the new girl, Kate, is actually a Guide who came into town with her psychopath partner named Silver to destroy the Merricks. Even though they both suffer from trust issues Kate and Hunter grow real close. Hunter is torn between his new friendship with the Merricks and doing what he feels he should do, Kate learns that maybe the elementals aren't the real evil out there. Get ready to cry and throw your book at the wall, this book is amazing!

Breathless - Brigid Kemmerer

5/5 Holy ***! This was Awesome! Eeee okay okay okay so this one's about Nick who apparently has a little secret. Nick has been dating Quinn for a couple weeks now but things aren't really going anywhere then one day when he goes to pick her up from dance practice Quinn introduces him to her friend Adam, a fellow dancer whom Nick can't seem to stop staring at. Later that night when Quinn is in trouble him and Adam both go help and Nick can't help but act on the feelings he's been having for years. I'm seriously excited to read more on Nick!

Kitty Rocks the House(Kitty Norville 11) - Carrie Vaughn

4/5 As a series progresses the story may start to wear thin but at book eleven I still love Kitty Norville. In Kitty's latest great adventure strangers have appeared in Denver; a Vampire priest who wants to recruit Rick for his mission of God and a rogue werewolf wanting to join Kitty's pack. Kitty sure has a lot on her plate what with having to care for her pack, fighting off obtruders, fighting Roman and her talkshow. Things sure aren't looking good.

Chosen at Nightfalll - C. C. Hunter

4 Stars. The final book of the series. Sigh, all good things come to an end and in the case of Chosen at Nightfall it was a great end.In this final entry Kiley comes back to Shadow Falls comes back to troubles; working on forgiving Lucas and a creepy ghost following her asking for her to kill someone then a magical sword starts following Kiley around not to mention Mario still wanting her dead and her mother dating a guy whom she rightfully doesn't trust. Oh the drama. An exciting read that wrapped up nicely I love this series and I'm sad to see it end.

Sweet Peril - Wendy Higgins

4 Stars. I'd been waiting for this one for a while it's the sequel to Sweet Evil. Anna is half demon half angel her job is supposed to be leading people into a life of drug abuse but her dad isn't like the other big bad demons,he actually loves his daughter and doesn't force her to work. When a ghost appears and informs Anna of a prophecy in which she rids the world of demons Anna with help from her dad and friends sets out to build an army of allied nephilim. Things get heated when she reunites with Kaidan, the boy she's in love with. Too bad Kaidan is the son of lust making him nephililm and two nephs are not permitted to fall in love on penalty of death. this was my favorite part: Through the shuffle of noise I heard a voice that made my ears perk up. “Anna!” I hiccuped again, and froze at the sound of that English accent. My head whipped around. My body clenched—if he was really here something had to be wrong. The hanky fell to my lap at the sight of Kaidan jogging up the middle of the terminal, stopping at the end of our row of chairs. Holy crap . . . my legs went numb. People halted their shuffling at the presence of this disheveled young man with wild blue eyes. He stood there, hair falling in his face, staring at me with a bizarre expression of euphoria. All eyes went from him to me and back again. A wide path was cleared down the aisle. “What’s wrong?” I asked. I knew I should stand but it was like my body had gone into shock I—Nothing.” He peered around the area, harried, as if scouting for possible danger. “How did you get through security?” I asked. “I bought a ticket.” He looked out of his element and more handsome than ever in his board shorts, dirty T-shirt, and flip-flops. Just as I’d left him. “You . . . you’re going on this flight?” I was so confused No,” he said, “but those buggers wouldn’t page you. And your phone is off.”" This was an exciting read with heartbreak and victory I just love Kaidan and Anna and I can't wait for the next book.

Angel in Chains - Cynthia Eden

4/5
This one's about Az! I have been wanting to get his story since the beginning and it did not disappoint. Azrael was the antagonist in the first book where he kept trying to kill Keenan's Vampire in the wrongful belief that he was doing Keenan a favor his out of bounds actions causing him to fall. Now Az meets this pretty little human, Jade. He saves her from some shifters seeing it as a chance at redemption while she sees him as her chance of freedom from her psycho obsessed ex who happens to be a shifter/angel making him rather difficult to kill even for a fallen death angel but in the process of using each other they can't help but fall in love something the crazy shifter can't stand for epic battles commence people die and Az gets his HEA.
